PALISEP was the original partner of the Kesho Trust in the Loliondo area and it was through their work and negotiations that the EFT was established as the management authority for the community forest lands. Our tour group visited the offices of PALISEP to get an overview of the work of the organization from Robert Kamakia, Executive Director.
After the presentation Robert took us to meet some of the beneficiaries of the PALISEP programs, mostly women and youth involved in the cow project and beekeeping initiatives. There was a very interesting question and answer session about the benefits of the programs and the approach of PALISEP in its work and the discussion also included questions from the local Maasai about women’s rights and in Canada.
